Good morning folks.

We went from -30 wind chills on Sunday to a 15-degree Saturday…which means you'll see someone in shorts at the grocery store like winter never happened.

If you were up early enough this morning you might've caught the blood moon. Oh, and don't forget, clocks spring forward Sunday. Folks in B.C. just said they're done with the time change for good, which means the rest of us get to be jealous twice a year instead of once.

Hope you enjoy the edition.

How does the new waste cart system work?

Source: Cambridgetoday

The Waterloo Region is rolling out automated garbage and organics collection starting March 3, replacing the old bag system with new carts picked up by mechanical arms on specialized trucks.

Here's what to expect:

  • Black carts for garbage (every other week), green carts for organics (weekly)

  • Carts must be placed two feet apart at the end of your driveway with handles facing your home and arrows toward the street

  • Lids must be fully closed — no bagging required anymore

  • Check your collection day online or download the Waste Whiz app to confirm your schedule

  • Blue box recycling is now bi-weekly (opposite weeks from garbage)

The first week of March, every household gets both services to help everyone adjust. Free assisted collection is available for anyone with mobility challenges
